the new member of our family (kinda).

meet charlie, or as i call him, charles.

if he wasn't so adorable, i'd be very resentful of him for throwing a wrench in the plans i originally had this weekend to spend with my girlfriend. she just bought him, and there are no pets allowed in my apartment. she has to be with him these next few weeks, as they are just getting to know each other, and he relies on her for training.
this is why i'm waiting to have children.

britney spears owns a heart.

apparently last night's "idol gives back" moved ms. spears so much that she felt the need to whip out her amex. an insider tells life & style that unfitney cried for two hours, then donated $25,000, with papa jamie's permission.

slowly but surely, she's turning things around.

not so secret anymore. apparently, the dutchess turned in shots of grey goose for shots of vinegar.

apparently it cuts cravings and helps metabolization.

calm down hills fans...

- according to the latest people magazine, lauren conrad denies that there will be a hills movie, citing lack of a script capability as the main issue.

i'm sure the writers of the hills could fix that though.

- in other unrelated hills news, heidi montag endoresed john mccain. oh yeah, she isn't even registered to vote.

salutations from lake george...

the last time i traveled to lake george, i was young. i think four or five years old little. my family and i attended a wedding here. i remember a hot, small church; a cool room on the lake; and playing basketball whenever i could. i know, random.

anyways, a now 18 years later, i return. i'm actualy in bolton landing, ny. syracuse university hosts a state-wide conference here at the sagamore annually for students of technologies majors who are underrepresented in the field - including minorities, students whose parents didn't attend college, etc. it's a two day affair that ends with a huge dance party. that brings in yours truly.

i didn't arrive until 5, and have been on the move ever since. randomly ran into a friend i worked with in buffalo, went through a 40-minute sound check, showered and dressed in record time, and spun for about 3 hours. in between all of that, i stopped at a wine store and a supermarket, thanks to the free shuttle service at my disposal.

if bolton landing can offer such a thing as rockstar treatment, i'm receiving it. nice pay, free suite... after the manager found out i didn't have a chance to eat dinner, the people here at the resort reopened the kitchen for me.

i could get used to this.

nonetheless, it's been an eye-opening experience. i realized tonight how little i know about reggae and soca music. tomorrow i'll make a 10a brunch, jog around the resort, and head back to wilkes-barre, stopping in syracuse on the way to visit family and friends.

until then, please excuse me, as i have to finish my turkey sandwich, polish off my glass of pinot noir, and turn down the sheets.

drove back into nepa very early this morning, avoiding traffic and practically any other living species.

lots of stuff for tonight's show, and pictures from the four day jaunt to new york ci-tay on the way.

now though, back to your regularly scheduled blogging.

Still right hurr...

So I'll spare you the suspense of waiting til 7 - I'm still in nyc.

Big thanks to A.J. In The Afternoon and Danny Waters.

3 day work week - ow ow!!!

With everything invested in this trip - both monetarly and emotionally, it wouldve been rough to cut losses and head back to nepa last night.

Thankfully, the drive will wait until early tomorrow morning.

3.31.2008

of course this happened...

well, an unexpected salutations from bayside, ny.

my friends and i are currently sitting inside one of our "go-to" establishments in the area, first edition. we plan on grabbing grub and heading out on tonight's endeavors.

of course, our plans have taken a drastic change for the worse.

the yankees home opener has been postponed until tomorrrow night at 7:05pm.

does the hundreds of dollars i invested in this trip go down the drain? do i receive another night off to check out opening day? stay tuned to the blog, or listen tomorrow night at 7. danny waters fills in for me tonight.

holy new york city.

blogging again from a starbucks, where i paid a stupid amount of money for a mere hour on the internet.

it's like deja vu. only this time, i'm not chasing britney spears.

i'm also in a different s'bucks. this one is located inside penn station, where i await my 3:19a train back to bayside, ny. after a quick nap, it'll be up and off to yankee stadium, where twelve of my friends from the birthplace and i are attending the final home opener in the house that ruth built.

everytime i travel to nyc, i fall deeper in love with it. 'cause mcdonalds across from madison square garden offers "fast delivery"? probably not. the fact that wireless internet is readily available? please, i can walk to public square for that.

it's more a culture-thing. you can list pros and cons of tangibles in any location across the world, and through that fall in love.

but true love can't be found this way, nor can true success. which is why i truly believe, despite its many imperfections, that nyc and i were made for each other. i love to walk at a fast pace. heck, i like almost all tasks at rapid pace.

then there's that new yorker attitude, which many loathe, yet i revel in. thing of it is, i really don't have an attitude per say that would lead one to believe that i support such a way of life.

at the end of the day, the issue is based on perspective. outsiders think its founded in pretentiousness. i simply view it as a no-nonsense, cut-to-the-chase way of life. those who know me certainly concur that i promote this.

whether they agree with it or not, well that is a different conversation. at the end of the day, they know the new yorker in me will march to the beat of his own drum, regardless.

and i can't say i'd want it any other way.

3.28.2008

so more about the joe bros...

okay mom or dad, parent or guardian:

these are second row seats to the only show your child wants to attend this summer. out of respect for the tens of thousands of little tweens in the area, i am not simply asking for caller 20.

instead, you're going to have to know the first verse and chorus of the jonas brothers current smash, "when you look me in the eyes."

be listening in between 7 & 9 pm.

thanks.

brit's little sister, jaime lynn, appeared at last year's ceremonies, to much fanfare.

good idea or bad idea?

a hills movie? no way.

good 'ole lauren conrad slyly mentioned to her network's movie blog that in fact, a hills movie might be in the works.

it has atleast been discussed.

this on the heels that monday's episode was the highest rated program on cable tv, and mtv had served up over 2 million streams of it as of yesterday.

find out here.

how attractive is penn state?

so popcrunch.com recently released the 50 best colleges ranked by looks. you can read up on how they got the rankings. but i'm sure you're asking yourself - did any nepa institutions rank?

penn state reppin' at number 37 - the only college from the keystone state to make the list. as you could imagine, most colleges were in warmer, sunnier climates.

this just in - fergie tomorrow!!!

fergie ferg will be on the ralphie radio show tomorrow night!!!
clearly, we will have to ask her about this...

chace slowly opening the closet door...

so apparently chace crawford and country crooner carrie underwood have called things off.

i dunno chace, things are looking awfully suspicious...

now truth-be-told, just because you pose for a picture with j.c. chasez, doesn't mean your gay...

just sayin'.

no more heidi montag?

hold your excitement. "no more" is the title of heidi's latest single - aka her sorry attempt at a music career.

almost as sorry as her attempt at acting. ooooh!

of course, montag strategically released the single to coincide with the fallout of last night's hills premiere. rumor has it that the track is referring to her d-bag companion spencer pratt.

anyways, click here and time out how long you can actually stand to listen to this.

britney spears - great success.

cbs's how i met your mother clocked it's best ratings ever last night. by golly, britney spears may not be the trainwreck she once was.

spears celebrated last night at an italian restaurant with her bodyguard. no alcohol, hotel rooms, or sam lutfi included.

the hills premiere...

did you tune in to the hills last night? if not, don't read the rest of this post, and watch it on-line here...

so really, what did you think? were you as surprised as my gf and i that they were only in paris for a week? finally, we're seeing lauren and whitney break away from teen vogue, but we can clearly understand why they have such awful reputations at the magazine... if he could have, the editor might have fired them while in paris... french guys = creepy... and dirty looking.
holy voiceover when whitney called the boutque to get lauren a new gown. and the guy just hands over a new one? the hills is so reality.

i really wish it ended with heidi dumping spencer, and the montag's beating pratt senseless.

one can dream.

been a minute...

so i took yesterday (monday) off. i drove back early sunday morning to niagara falls, after our first saturday night inside colosseum night club (which btw, went amazing).

i spent easter with my dad. we ate at fortuna's, an amazing italian restaurant in the falls. after digesting, we followed dinner up with a few drinks at wine bar on third.

monday was spent with my girlfriend. we drove to rochester, where i appeared in court for a speeding ticket. i pled guilty to a lesser charge, although personally, i thought i had a chance to be let off all together. still, i caught a break.

after driving back down i-90, ang and i grabbed burgers at shorty's, a new sports bar in niagara falls that is owned by a good friend of mine. coincidentally, it's also the same location where governor eliot spitzer made the last infamous call to the emporer's v.i.p. club as "client 9."

only in the falls.

nice to spend a couple days back in the birthplace, although i won't front, i wish i could've stayed longer. not that i miss western new york that much, or hate nepa, but i won't have a chance to return home until july. not complaining, just sayin'.

back on the grind here tonight... i'm giving away the ultimate lifehouse fan package. pair of tickets, meet and greet passes, and a signed guitar. that'll be on the docket for just past 9.

a lunch hour boob job?

five signs he's man-o-rexic.

this might be of some help on that next first date...

"He considers a smoothie to be a meal or a meal substitute.

He wants to walk everywhere. This is a patented Manorexic trick. It is undercover calorie burning and it’s evil. The first time Craig proposed we “walk home” after a night out, I lauded his thoughtful romanticism. But the six subsequent times, I knew he just wanted to get in those 10,000 steps a day. Plus, I don’t know about you, but my walk home at 3 a.m. is more of a “stumble” than a stride.

He shows you a picture on your first date of what he “used to look like.” That’s right. Craig, at one point, came it at a whopping deuce and a half, and insisted on whipping out his driver’s license to prove it. Mazel Tov on the weight loss, but when you’re on a first date, you best be sending the hottest version of you. And the best version of you did not used to be fat. Dude, my breasts aren’t this big and my skin isn’t this perfect—but save it for date two.

He uses words like “carb” and “trans fat.” Craig once told me that “abs are made in the kitchen.” Yeah, well so is cheesecake.

When you’re both hung over and you order a hamburger while he gets egg whites and fruit—and eyes your plate enviously."

---
The green placards with white lettering were clear, but you didn’t have to spot one to understand the message. Northeast PA is “Clinton Country”. Last Saturday, Democratic Presidential candidate Senator Hillary Clinton turned all of downtown Scranton into her City Hall.

But don’t worry, her opponent, Senator Barack Obama, isn’t ready to concede NEPA just yet.

Clinton walked the entire route – over 3,000 feet – flanked by Governor Ed Rendell and Scranton Mayor Chris Doherty. The entourage traveled with a Secret Service motorcade on all sides, and the Bricklayers Union International following it all.

Senator Obama didn’t walk in the parade; however Max Kennedy, son of Robert F. Kennedy, represented him.

But it was Senator Clinton who crisscrossed Wyoming, Lackawanna, and North Washington – signing autographs, posing for cell phone photos, and hugging supporters. She engaged the tens of thousands, bluntly pleading, “I need you! I need you!” as she made impressions with the young and old.

“It feels great to be back, I love being in Scranton,” Senator Clinton told me in between shaking hands in front of the reviewing station. Clinton, like me, walked in the parade for her first time Saturday.

The presidential candidate wasn’t the only politician exuberant with the Electric City.

“I was in Pittsburgh, and that parade was high-spirited and well-attended,” said a semi-exhausted Governor Rendell, who walked in both parades alongside Senator Clinton. “But (the Scranton parade) was off the charts.”

Many young voters are backing Obama. His supporters were active and vocal. The younger activists held signs that read, “O’Bama” and screamed his name in competitions with chants of “Hil-a-ry!”

On Monday, the Junior Senator from Illinois gave his supporters another reason to chant. Obama greeted supporters for about a half-hour inside Whistles Pub & Grill on Monday.

“Hey, how’s everyone doing? Next round’s on me!” Obama enthusiastically shouted to the crowd, standing room only in the front section of the bar.

Then the “Barack-star” did what he does best - conversing with older women, consoling a veteran without disability, and taking photos with wide-eyed teenagers.

“I love Scranton!” Obama replied when asked about the area. “I wish I could just sit here and have a pint, not campaign too much. But I have work to do.”

After the meet-and-greet, Senator Obama ducked into the back room of Whistles. MTV News taped a town hall meeting with Obama and young war veterans, moderated by Sway. The event will be aired on MTV Thursday night. Later in the evening, the Democratic delegate leader spoke inside The Radisson at The Society of Irish Women’s annual dinner.

This certainly won’t be the last we see of either candidate or their family in NEPA. President Bill Clinton is scheduled to host a late afternoon rally inside James M. Coughlin Junior/Senior High School on Wednesday. Meanwhile Obama supporters believe he’ll return to the area as Pennsylvania’s April 22 primary date nears.
