We're in a recession, REAL reporters, like my friends from Syracuse University, can't find work.

Yet Joe The Plumber just landed a reporting gig.

Behind The Mac's Back...

Apparently the only unequivocally bi-partisan media outlet in this country is the National Enquirer. After ruining John Edwards' chances of serving in President-Elect Obama's administration - the NE is claiming that this is Cindy McCain... with another man.

mccain camp quickly responds...

from the mccain-palin camp:

“Angry Joe Biden today riled up his crowd with fictitious claims about John McCain. For an Obama-Biden campaign spending more money on negative advertising than any campaign in history, red-faced Joe Biden shouted and cursed but couldn’t shake Obama’s job-killing prescription of higher taxes and bigger government. Like most of ole Joe’s pitches and tall tales, Biden’s claims for energy independence through clean coal are at odds with his record.  It was just last month that he adamantly claimed an Obama-Biden administration would say ‘no’ to clean coal plants in America. His reversal today on clean coal is one more fib from ole Joe.” – Ben Porritt McCain-Palin spokesman.

not sure if i would characterize biden as angry... definitely loud and adamant though.
about to leave the riverfront sports complex now... chris matthews and his producers have blown me off a solid three times. the tv host is currently chatting it up with sen. bob casey - who i did speak with and who you'll hear from tomorrow night on the ralphie radio show.

i was not there - after events that had transpired the night before regarding my lack of access during sen. mccain's arrival at the airport - i figured there was no reason to check out a town hall meeting that i had already seen.

but i am regretting it a bit... because the today show was in town.

update from the mccain townhall...

traveling press just arrived on the scene. these people are like insects - everything is calm, and suddenly they burst in and swarm the risers. senator mccain is in downtown wilkes-barre. after the townhall meeting, it's off to the westmoreland club for a ritsy fundraiser. i'll be heading over now that the press avail is cancelled. wish me luck, as i try to have senator mccain answer a few questions about everything from higher education affordability to the hills.

doors opened to the public at 8a, and this place isn't near full. very surprising, and i'm sure disappointing for the mccain camp.

live from mccain's meeting at the kirby...

greetings.

lots to catch you up on - but let's get to today's big story in the area - the arrival of senator john mccain to nepa. i'm currently typing on my laptop in the f.m. kirby center over the "johnmccain1" wireless network. things haven't gone exactly as planned, truth be told, never does.

in today's instance, the press were informed that load-in would be in between 6-7a, with a secret service sweep of the building happening at 7. no cameras or equipment allowed after the sweep begins.

i arrive at 6:30, and to the chagrin of myself and a few other press, the sweep "began early." however, a mccain staffer informs us that the press will receive preferential treatment when doors open at 8, no line, and equipment will be allowed.

i burned an hour outside, walked through just before 8, and am now sitting on the third of four levels on this riser. the only national media i've noticed is hbo - which has two camerapeople filming a documentary on the election.

lots of material on the way, in the forms of writing, pictures, audio, and video - with bhtizzle's new video camera! let's hope the final product warrents the exclamation point.

afterall, nothing happens as planned - sen. mccain's 11:45 press avail, where he would have spoken to the media exclusively, is already cancelled.

mccain & montag '08

so despite spencer's plead not too, heidi montag comes out and admits her love for republican presidential candidate john mccain.

the arizona senator's response?

"I’m honored to have Heidi’s support and I want to assure her that I never miss an episode of 'The Hills,' especially since the new season started."

is this blowing anyone else's mind?
