We're in a recession, REAL reporters, like my friends from Syracuse University, can't find work.

Yet Joe The Plumber just landed a reporting gig.

Soap Operas Say Safe-Sex Is Okay.
Obviously you can't see a contraceptive in a sex scene, but now the dialogue in some soap operas suggests a more overt attempt to relay a safe-sex message to women.

If you've ever lost a pet...
This story might bring you new found hope - and it has nothing to do with President-Elect Obama. Apparently this cat returned to its owner.

what he "baracks" out too...
click here for an article about what presidential hopeful barack obama listens to on his ipod. interesting read - especially when he offers props to jay-z and ludacris, yet won't allow his two younger daughters to listen to the rappers.

lionel makes a funny - at nicole's expense...
here's what papa richie said after receiving the "icon" honor at last night's tv land awards taping...

“Forget about surviving 40 years in the music business,” Lionel Richie told the audience. “Just surviving 27 years of Nicole Richie has been a struggle-and-a-half, I want to tell you. I stand here as a survivor, I want you to know, for all the parents out there.”
wonder what his son-in-law thought of that?

good news in a bad economy...
sure, gas prices are skyrocketing and our grocery bills are gaining weight. however, according to this article, not everything about our country's near-recession is awful.

not-so-rockstar sentance for kroeger...
"SURREY, British Columbia (AP) - Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger was sentenced Thursday to a year without driving and fined $588 for a drunken driving conviction. Kroeger, whose real name is Chad Turton, was stopped for speeding in his red Lamborghini in suburban Surrey, British Columbia, in June 2006.
Authorities said his blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit. His lawyer, Marvin Stern, noted the 33-year-old singer's charitable works and said the charges and trial have been an intrusion into Kroeger's life."

"AP: What are you hiding under that bandanna?

Michaels: My hair is combined of my hair and the finest extensions Europe has to offer. I do the show without it on all the time and they wont film me. They are like, 'Put your bandanna back on. It is your image.' It is my signature thing."

heath ledger is dead.
UPDATE: tmz reports that pills were found all around his bed. furthermore, the entertainment news site says police believe the death was accidental.
tmz retracted a story that the apartment authorities found the actor in belonged to mary-kate olsen.
as i wrote at the bottom of this thread... ugly details to follow... and i'm sure we're not done.
the ap writes...

"Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday at a downtown Manhattan residence, and police said drugs may have been a factor. He was 28. NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said Ledger had an appointment for a massage at the Manhattan apartment believed to be his home. The housekeeper who went to let him know the masseuse had arrived found him dead at 3:26 p.m.
The Australian-born actor was nominated for an Oscar for "Brokeback Mountain," where he met his wife, actress Michelle Williams, in 2005. Ledger and Williams had lived in Brooklyn and had a daughter, Matilda, until they split up last year."
this all doesn't sound right. stay tuned for the ugly details...

and will the new batman movie be impacted by this? ledger played the joker.
