RALPHIE REPORT: Speidi v. Ralphie, Round 1.

Love or loathe him, Spencer Pratt is a marketing genius. The villain of MTV’s “The Hills” created a marketing scheme for pure celebrity that rakes in the cash without having to release a sex tape.

Of course, that isn’t to say that Spencer – along with girlfriend Heidi Montag, doesn’t make the rounds… the media rounds, that is.

Enter The Ralphie Radio Show. Last week, capitalizing off of the premiere of “The Hills” fifth season and the release of two new Heidi singles on iTunes, the couple affectionately known as “Speidi” kicked off a three hour radio tour with 97 BHT’s Kidd Kraddick In The Morning. Towards the end of the phoner-fest, Spencer and Heidi called up The RRS. The possibly-engaged duo wanted to talk about Montag’s music and their supremacy on “The Hills”. Of course, there were a few other topics I wanted to touch on – namely the type of money we’re talkin’ here with these “reality” shows and staged photo-ops.

“Ralphie, to be honest, with this recession we’re so broke and we need money,” Spencer spewed before I cut him off by citing a leaked report to In Touch Weekly last August that the couple made $65,000 – each – per episode.

“…Yeah… and I heard Santa Claus was real,” retorted Pratt, clearly annoyed that I wasn’t offering up your typical softball questions. Game on.

Not letting up, I attempted to reference that same article, which stated that according to Lauren Conrad’s contract, no one on the show could make more money than her. Pratt then tried to spin that statement – claiming L.C. would be foolish to give up such money. Finally, I cut to the chase: doesn’t the couple stand to make a considerable amount of money directly by Conrad exiting the show (L.C. insists that this is her last season)?

“(2 seconds of silence) If you’re our agent, I’d think you were right,” Pratt finally admitted.

While we were discussing money, I decided to bring up the couple’s relationship with blogger Perez Hilton. The self-proclaimed “Queen of All Media” holds nothing back when it comes to “The Hills” – stories of staged events, criticism of the cast’s side projects, and rumored revelations of behind-the-scene deals. Yet despite this, Spencer and Heidi tweet back and forth with Perez, and attend his parties. In one recent post, Hilton wrote that “Speidi” stood to make $200,000 with an undisclosed tabloid for the exclusive rights to report on a staged breakup/reunion of the couple.

“Like I said, where is this money?” asked Spencer. “I wanna see it. Because if it was true, I’d be taking you out to dinner right now Ralphie in Pennsylvania.”

Pratt stumbled over words and changed the subject when I brought up the fact that everyone else sees this money on “The Hills” during shots of Spencer driving his BMW.

“Perez is very honest,” chimed in Montag.

That was all I needed to hear. Montag used the term “honest” to describe the man who falsely accused rapper Flo-Rida of killing a rabbit and claimed Cuba Dictator Fidel Castro was dead, without citing a source.

Whether it’s the TV show, Heidi’s body, or Spencer’s paparazzi deals – there’s something fake about The Hills, and it doesn’t get much more honest than that.

RALPHIE REPORT: sex and the sequel.

Well Sex and the City fans – a sequel to the box office hit looks likely.

Actress Cynthia Nixon, who portrays lawyer Miranda Hobbes, told me exclusively that filming could commence in 2009.

“We are definitely talking about it,” said Nixon. “Our hope is, if everything keeps moving forward, we would maybe start shooting summer of next year.”

In the meantime, Nixon passes her time by campaigning for Presidential Candidate Barack Obama. But the Broadway and Silver Screen star had a message specific to those in Scranton who supported Senator Hillary Clinton in the Democratic Presidential Primary.
“Think to yourself, ‘What would Hillary do?’ Hillary would vote for Barack Obama.”

Nixon and I also spoke about gay marriage – and the recent comments by Governor Sarah Palin on a constitution ban of same-sex weddings. The statements didn’t sit well with Nixon, who is an outted lesbian.

The actress is outspoken about Breast Cancer. Nixon is this year’s ambassador for the Susan G. Komen For The Cure Foundation. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Nixon credits her survival of the disease to early detection and her doctor’s flexible schedule.

“I didn’t miss any performances, I had my surgery on a Sunday,” revealed Nixon, who starred on Broadway at the time. She completed her treatments during the show’s run.

If you ever receive the honor to work on set with Nixon, I’d recommend a great excuse before you try calling in sick.

THE WHITE TIE AFFAIR BREEDS HITS, JEALOUSLY

I found myself a bit jealous of Chris Wallace last week.

Wallace fronts The White Tie Affair – a band signed to Epic Records with a single called, “Candle (Sick and Tired).” It is a relatable, catchy track that gained notoriety when MTV’s The Hills featured it.

Enter my envy.

“I met Audrina, maybe a year ago – cause she works at Epic,” said Wallace – who went on to describe Patridge as “genuine.”

Obviously he was not referring to any of Audrina’s hills. Wallace seemed more intrigued with Lauren Conrad, but assured me that his band would not make any non-musical cameos on the show.

lots of dough in the hills...

read this and try not to throw up as you caruse through the figures of what lauren, speidi, and others on mtv's the hills make per episode.

7.11.2008

thanks, jeopardy...

it's the end of the world as we know it...

heidi montag, an answer on last night's jeopardy. wow.

6.05.2008

a hills spinoff...

yup, according to us weekly, whitney port is getting her very own docu-series-scripted-whatever on mtvizzle.

yes, whitney's my favorite on the show. no, i think there are more deserving cast members. anywho, details here.

5.07.2008

the hills first thing in the morning...

another product of people. do you think this is what they really look like immediately after waking up (the heidi picture is laughable)?

5.06.2008

hills recap...

i'm just going to send you to trent at pink is the new blog. he pretty much nailed this one right outta the park.

in other news, i received the latest edition of rolling stone in the mail today - with the four ladies scantily clad on the front. holler.

4.16.2008

heidi gets low-low-low-low...

and not in a flo rida kinda way. first - she appears on regis and kelly, with some not-so-nice things to spew about her archnemisis, a one lauren conrad.

redlasso apparently hates blogger, so click here to watch.

then she definately states that she would never appear in a hills movie, citing lc as her main reason for dissention.

also see: biting the hand that feeds you.

4.07.2008

calm down hills fans...

- according to the latest people magazine, lauren conrad denies that there will be a hills movie, citing lack of a script capability as the main issue.

i'm sure the writers of the hills could fix that though.

- in other unrelated hills news, heidi montag endoresed john mccain. oh yeah, she isn't even registered to vote.

3.27.2008

a hills movie? no way.

good 'ole lauren conrad slyly mentioned to her network's movie blog that in fact, a hills movie might be in the works.

it has atleast been discussed.

this on the heels that monday's episode was the highest rated program on cable tv, and mtv had served up over 2 million streams of it as of yesterday.

tips for the movie:
- no spencer.
- no creepy french guys.
- cast me.

that's all.

3.25.2008

the hills premiere...

did you tune in to the hills last night? if not, don't read the rest of this post, and watch it on-line here...

so really, what did you think? were you as surprised as my gf and i that they were only in paris for a week? finally, we're seeing lauren and whitney break away from teen vogue, but we can clearly understand why they have such awful reputations at the magazine... if he could have, the editor might have fired them while in paris... french guys = creepy... and dirty looking.
holy voiceover when whitney called the boutque to get lauren a new gown. and the guy just hands over a new one? the hills is so reality.

i really wish it ended with heidi dumping spencer, and the montag's beating pratt senseless.

one can dream.

3.11.2008

lauren conrad on ellen...

ellen asks all the tough questions, including if the hills is real, and what she thinks of heidi (NOTE: if clip isn't working, click here to watch)...

1.31.2008

lc's boobs not like the hills...

the "reality star" partied hard in LA - celebrating the 22nd anniversary of her birth.

1.07.2008

8.16.2007

not as bad as you'd think.

when heidi montag and fiance spencer pratt, stars of the hills, visited ryan seacrest on his morning show in los angeles, the back stabbers of lauren mentioned that heidi was in studio working on music with a couple well-known producers.

well, the label released one of the finished tracks to seacrest, who played it on his show this morning.

i'll throw the hook on-air during tonight's show, but listen to the entire segment with the full song by clicking here.

turns out heidi heard the broadcast in LA - and was not happy. apparently the track wasn't supposed to hit radio afterall... whoops.

whaddya think though? i agree with ryan, spencer needs to be dropped. this song could the next hotness... lovin' the vibe.
