RALPHIE REWIND: Coldplay Copyright Infringement?

Yet another artist comes forth to claim that Coldplay copied a melody for the song, "Viva La Vida." Hear both tracks in this clip and judge for yourself...

"Singer-songwriter Cat Stevens agreed on Monday that the Coldplay song, "Viva La Vida," sounds like one of his 1973 songs, but he stopped short of saying he would sue for plagiarism.

"My son brought it to my attention and said: 'Doesn't that sound like 'Foreigner Suite?'" the musician, now known as Yusuf Islam, told Reuters.

"The song definitely sounds like it," he said of his song. "It has such logical chords and the melody has to be what it is..."

Lost! or Lost?

I'm not asking for a review or your two cents of the Coldplay tracks that bear the name of this post... but while we're on the subject, let me just quickly mention that I legally downloaded the Prospekt's March EP for a mere .99 through amazon.com. I've never spent a dollar better, ever.

BTW, "Lost+ (f. Jay-Z)" is my favorite of the Lost tracks. Anyways, I've lost two items that are near and dear to me, within' a couple of days. Both are materialistic and could easily be replaced physically - but it still irks me, and rightfully so, that I'd have to spend money on top of the time already lost looking for these items - which, if not for my incompentence, would still be in my possession.

Just my watch and my goofy winter hat. Can't find neither. If you find either, a small reward may be claimed...

That's my hat and I after I had just purchased it... in better times, if you will.

Isn't it equally ridiculous that looking for the aforementioned misplaced items almost made me late to appointments a handful of times this week? Ugh, happy holidays.

a lot of people are paying coldplay a lot of attention, especially with the release of viva la vida or death and all his friends. i thought i'd offer up a little edumacation on one of my favorite bands with an oldie but goodie. this is track 2 from coldplay's debut LP, parachutes... it's called, shiver.

personal musings...

- big thank you to everyone at geisinger for mending me up, and for bht for allowing me a sick night. cannot tell you how great i feel right now. by this time tomorrow i'll be all ready for this weekend - which is shaping up to be pretty fly!

- go buy the new coldplay and lil wayne cds - like yesterday. coldplay is my new favorite band. chris martin and the boys have released four straight dope LPs. much love. and lil weezy? dopest mc in the game, and he backs it up on this album. i love the way he handled this cd - the leaks, the mixtapes, all the different tracks/versions released. not only did weezy drop the biggest debut cd of the year in regards to sales, but i think he's set a new trend in the way major labels will look to market hip hop artists.

gonna go for a very abbreviated jog and run a few errands before popping in to the studio to get the big thursday night show in motion - be on the look out for a BRAND NEW segment at 10p - it'll be hot!
